for the first time in nearly 100 years the state of virginia has executed a woman. theresa lewis was put to death billy that will injection tonight. the 41-year-old was found guilty of arranging the murders of her husband and stepson. the motive? a $250,000 life insurance policy. lewis' lawyers claim she was borderline disabled. there were more than 7,000 appeals to stop her execution. a person at san quentin killed another inmate. he used an item called a bone crusher. he made the item from stuff easily found behind bars. they use everything from toilet trees to actual bones. >> here an assortment of inmate manufactured weapons. >> crude home made prison

knives. for generations inmates have called them sheriffs or shanks. these days they are called as heat. and the larger ones are bone crushers. >> they are very resource full. >> reporter: we saw a sample of things they made. they managed to make everything from slingshots to zip guns to a variety of bone crushers. share one made from a syringe, a toilet paper roller, here is a spear, the handle is made of rolled up newspapers. >> and the tip of this appears to be a toothbrush that has been melted, sharp end down to a tip, and essentially utilized as a spear. >> reporter: or look at this. someone actually fashioned an actual bone into a weapon. >> they are called many things but bone crushers are one of the things they call. >> he is free and clean but harold brown junior spent a dozen years behind bars for drug dealing in louisiana, arizona, nevada -- >> i saw knit a holding tank
